We got home from soccer practice and the power was out! Jeremy and Logan played checkers by candlelight and then we ate delivery pizza for dinner.
In addition to today’s photo, I’ve had a little time to reflect on my 365 project after completing a whole month of taking at least one photo every day. I, of course, always took much more than one photograph. I ended up with just shy of 700 personal “keepers” this month, which I have only ever come close to once before in a month since my kids were born.
I also have so far managed to stick to my personal goal of not cropping in post processing. Every image in this project was framed exactly that way in camera. It may not seem like a big deal, but in addition to my goal of making a cool family album at the end of the year, I also wanted to improve as a photographer and just using the center focal point and not focusing and recomposing the frame is what I saw as one of my biggest weaknesses in my photography.
Since I have managed to make that adjustment well in my opinion, I am setting a new goal to make an effort to work with more interesting lighting situations. I have become accustomed to using my Speedlight in a specific way (usually bouncing off ceilings and walls). I am going to try to find unique natural lighting situations or use my flash in different ways.
